Attached is a copy of our Living Literature. The girls chose the poem by Robert Frost, “Nothing Gold Can Stay.” Hannah Beazley, Tkai Jackson, Hope Carneal and Delaney Haislop completed for Living Literature. They did a great job.
We had 24 BETA members attend the convention and we competed in a lot of categories. I am so proud of all of our competitors. We competed in Living Literature, Tower of Power, Songfest, Banner, Spelling Science, Language Arts, Math, Acrylic, Sketching, Recyclable Art, Woodworking, and Charcoal/Pastel.
Parents and convention attendees: Please send me photos from the convention so that we can post them. I do not have any good group pictures and I do not have a picture of living literature.
We had several parents who chaperoned for us and for that I am so thankful! Thank you for helping make my job easier at the convention and looking out for all of our student leaders!
Congratulations to Tessa Hindson who placed 2nd in Language Arts! She competed against 20 students.
Congratulations also goes out to Isabella Marshall, Yami Nieves and Isabella Graham. They placed 2nd in the poster contest. These girls also competed against 20 schools for the poster design.
These four will be able to represent Caroline Middle School at the National Junior Beta Convention in June.
I received an email about the family fair. Please read! If you need volunteer hours then please read this message about the family fair.
“We will be providing volunteer training for the teens on Wednesday, March 4th (RE-SCHEDULED).
We want all students who wish to volunteer to have an opportunity for community service hours for Family Fair setup on Friday, 3/13/15 and the day of the event – Saturday, 3/14/15.
Students not attached to any club/organization are welcome to volunteer with us as well.
All students can participate in our teen/volunteer training, which will prepare students for what is expected at Family Fair and working with children in Child Supervision.
I have attached 2 documents. Please read the attached 2 page letter/form concerning teen volunteer training and encourage your students to participate. Our volunteers help to make Family Fair successful.
The other attachment is the Family Fair flyer.”
If school is closed we will not be able to have the bus take us to convention. So we will have to cancel. If there is a 2 hour delay we will still be going. My email is firstname.lastname@example.org
If it is a 2 hour delay and you have to ride the bus, we will just roll once everyone is there. If there is a delay and you are a chaperone be there by 9 so we can get everyone organized and ready.
I will have constant access to my email to answer any questions or concerns.
Beta Convention will be held on Monday, Feb. 23 and Tuesday, Feb. 24th. The convention takes place at the Convention Center in Hampton, Virginia. We will leave school on Monday at 9:00 a.m. We will return on Tuesday by 2:30 p.m. Parents can drive down to Hampton or they can ride the school bus.
Students need to bring a lunch on Monday. They will eat their lunch when they arrive at the hotel. We will be staying at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Hampton. It is right next door to the convention center. Dinner will be pizza. The hotel provides breakfast. We will be assigned a time to eat breakfast. Once I know this time, I will let everyone else know. Students will need to bring money for lunch on Tuesday. We will be stopping on the way home to pick up lunch on Tuesday.
Students need to pack enough clothes for an overnight trip. Dress code on Monday will be the Beta t-shirts and nice jeans. Jeans cannot have holes in them. Tuesday’s dress code will be jeans and a CMS shirt or a nice top. Make sure to have comfortable shoes. Please pack toothpaste, toothbrush, and any other toiletries that may be needed.
Electronics are allowed. However, we are not responsible for the electronic devices. If they are lost or stolen there is nothing we can do about this.
So we are currently at crunch time for convention. The weather this week has been a set back. I am attaching the song lyrics and the medical form to this post. please complete the medical form and bring it with you on Monday.
Should there be no school tomorrow, then we will have a BETA meeting at 12:30-2:30 so we can prepare. This meeting is not mandatory, but please come if you can.
If there is school then there is a meeting after school until 4:45. There are no after school activity buses on Friday. If we have school, only stay if you have means to get home.
Next week we are meeting on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. This week we are only meeting today and Wednesday. Thursday this week was cancelled due to parent teacher conferences. On Tuesday, February 18th BETA convention attendees need to bring in rock apparel for our conference.
Don’t forget to bring money for after school snacks.
Attention BETA convention attendees: We will meet next week Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. It’s crunch time. You all have done a great job.
Next full BETA meeting for everyone will be March 4th.
